MINNEAPOLIS (July 21, 2026) – Greater Twin Cities United Way (United Way) has promoted Shannon Smith Jones to Chief Impact Officer, recognizing her leadership in advancing the organization’s work to respond to urgent community needs, stabilize the nonprofit sector, and invest in a thriving future across the nine-county metro region.
Since joining United Way in 2023 as Senior Vice President of Community Impact, Smith Jones has helped lead the organization’s grantmaking, community partnerships, advocacy, innovation, 211 resource helpline, and 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
“Shannon is a trusted and visionary leader whose work continues to strengthen how we partner with community to create meaningful, lasting change,” said John Wilgers, president and CEO of Greater Twin Cities United Way. “Her leadership has helped advance critical work across our impact portfolio, and I’m excited to see her continue shaping our strategy and deepening our community impact in this new role.”
As Chief Impact Officer, Smith Jones will continue to help shape Greater Twin Cities United Way’s impact strategies, community partnerships, and systems-change efforts in housing stability, food security, educational success, and economic opportunity.
