Greater Twin Cities United Way unites community partners to meet urgent needs for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness, while making lasting change to prevent homelessness before it begins and ensure everyone has a safe place to live and belong.
Through our 211 resource helpline, we connect people experiencing homelessness to shelter and help individuals prevent homelessness with connections to emergency rental assistance and eviction-prevention resources. Frequently, 211 operators can share additional stabilizing resources such as employment or utility assistance.
Through multiyear partnerships we provide funding, technical assistance and leadership support to community-based nonprofit partners doing the most impactful work to provide emergency shelter and supportive housing services that help stabilize lives.
Each year, thousands of households in the Twin Cities transition from homelessness to stable housing yet lack everyday essentials. Home For Good, mobilizes volunteers and donors to provide families with welcome home bins filled with towels, kitchen utensils, cleaning and hygiene items, blankets and other necessities for a safe, stable home.
Through our Pathways Home initiative we partner with nonprofits that provide resources and holistic support for youth exiting foster care or incarceration as they transition to independence. We also collaborate with the public and private agencies that make up our housing, foster care and criminal-legal systems to address gaps in these systems that lead to increased rates of homelessness.
In support of affordable housing for all Minnesotans, we advocate at the state, local and national level for eviction policy reform, holistic social services and housing assistance for populations at highest risk of homelessness.

Available 24/7 and in multiple languages, 211 operators provide confidential information and referrals to statewide resources, including emergency shelter, supportive housing, rental assistance, eviction resources and more.
Home For Good welcome home bins filled with household essentials are distributed by our nonprofit partners throughout the Twin Cities. Each year, we partner with 30+ non-profit partners who distribute the welcome home bins to individuals and families moving from homelessness to stable housing in Minnesota. Greater Twin Cities United Way serves people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Minnesota through our multiyear grant making program, innovation initiatives, advocacy efforts and community engagement opportunities. We support community partners doing the most impactful work to provide emergency shelter and connections to supportive housing services, so everyone has a safe, stable and affordable place to call home. Home For Good is Greater Twin Cities United Way’s annual community-wide initiative to provide household essentials for individuals and families transitioning from homelessness to stable housing.
