Advocacy to Drive Systemic Change in the Twin Cities

Advocacy

Lasting change is only possible when we influence the systems and policies that affect our lives. We advocate for policy shifts and build coalitions to widen our collective impact – accomplishing change far beyond what any organization can do alone.

Advocacy in Action

Greater Twin Cities United Way works to create lasting change by:

Building Relationships

We meet with policymakers and elected officials to share our expertise on key issues facing our community, advocate for solutions and build support for our policy goals.

Mobilizing Community

We send out alerts and updates to our Advocacy Network, making it easy for constituents to speak out to their lawmakers on important issues. We also activate our network for public demonstrations like Advocacy for Children Day.

Collaborating with Partners

We maintain active communication with nonprofits across the state, allowing us to share information and pool our resources toward greater collective impact.

Investing in the Field

We support other nonprofits’ advocacy through grants and technical assistance – supporting nonpartisan activities like voter registration, as well as issue-specific advocacy in areas like food security, housing stability and education.
