Families are resilient and resourceful. But our economy is putting further pressure on them to do more with less. No one should have to choose between their child’s school supplies and paying a utility bill.
Since 2016, Action Day has connected over 400,000 students with backpacks and school supplies. Yet every year, more than 200,000 students in the Greater Twin Cities could return to school without the essential school supplies like notebooks, pencils, pens and calculators. Without these basic tools, it is harder for students to fully participate in the classroom and stay engaged in learning.
Together, we can change that. With the support of volunteers, donors and community partners, Action Day helps ensure more students walk into school prepared, confident and ready to learn.
Create your own volunteer experience at home with friends, family or neighbors. Purchase, assemble and donate school supply packs filled with markers, scissors, pencils and more.
Group projects can be tailored for teams of any size and hosted at your workplace or offsite. United Way provides pack lists, coordination support, and impact reporting. Projects are available year-round and typically run 1–2 hours. Email our team to learn how we can partner with you!
Take action and make a difference!
Your generous donation will fuel the future of a local elementary, middle or high school student. A gift of just $20 provides a brand-new backpack full of school supplies.
