Pathways Home

Homelessness Prevention for Youth
Despite a clear understanding of the risk factors that contribute to homelessness, our state’s existing support systems are designed to respond only after a crisis has occurred. Pathways Home supports nonprofit organizations who are working to prevent homelessness among young people in transition, helping them maintain housing and build stable adult lives.
Investing in Housing Stability
In 2018, the Governor’s Housing Task Force identified two populations that are highly at-risk of homelessness: young people who are exiting foster care, and individuals who are transitioning out of incarceration. People of Color, specifically Black and Indigenous people, are vastly overrepresented in these populations and in our region’s homeless population at large. Pathways Home works in partnership to ensure that young people in these circumstances have a stable and secure place to live.

“Improving the systems that contribute to homelessness can only happen in deep collaboration with the communities that are most impacted. Pathways Home and the leadership of Greater Twin Cities United Way embody the trust-based approach to philanthropy that we aspire to at 3M.”
