Finding Support and a Calling
Tasiana always dreamed of a career in health care. When she moved from Tanzania to Minnesota, that dream became a reality. She enrolled at the International Institute of Minnesota, a United Way partner that helps new Americans on a path to economic self-sufficiency.
Here Tasiana completed several programs to prepare her for the field of nursing. She was able to improve her English skills and train for the health care field through coursework and practicals.
“I was so eager to learn,” Tasiana said. She credits her family and instructors for providing great support while she strived to reach her goals.
Today, Tasiana is working as a nurse where she enjoys providing care to her patients each day. In reflecting on all that she’s accomplished Tasiana is pleased, and is far from finished with her learning journey.
“I am so proud of myself,” she said. “And I want to keep going further.”
