Investing in Our Community’s Future
The Rheins have been generous United Way supporters for decades. Kevin coordinated the United Way campaign at Citibank Arizona nearly 30 years ago, and since then, the couple has been dedicated to helping alleviate poverty in our communities through giving to United Way.
“We try to live our lives with gratitude every single day, and one of our goals has been to try to make a difference in people’s lives,” the couple shared.
The Rheins are generous supporters of many philanthropic causes, including childhood education, higher education and skills training, dementia care, mental health programs and safety net programs that support food security and affordable housing. When asked why they give to Greater Twin Cities United Way, the couple shared that United Way’s holistic approach to solving large-scale community challenges and rigorous grantmaking process are what make United Way a great philanthropic investment.
“I think United Way is uniquely positioned to bring the public sector, corporations and contributions from donors together to solve problems,” Kevin said. “Most of the things we’re trying to tackle are bigger than what anyone can do individually or any organization can do alone.”
As the couple planned their philanthropic future, they decided to continue their investment in United Way through a Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) gift. This unique legacy vehicle offers benefits for both donors and the beneficiary organization.
The Rheins view this gift as an investment in the future of the Twin Cities. “We’ve really appreciated living in the Twin Cities for the past 25 years,” Kevin said. “It’s been a great place to raise our family, and we want to ensure that it will remain a great place for others to raise their families and for future generations.”
Special thanks to Nancy and Kevin Rhein for their investment in the future of our Greater Twin Cities community.
A Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) is an excellent way to receive benefits for yourself and create a legacy gift to Greater Twin Cities United Way. The trust can provide income, a current year tax deduction and funds that support United Way’s mission into perpetuity.
