As a human resource associate in Talent Management at The Mosaic Company, Amanda Richardson understands how critical career training can be to ensure a bright future. Amanda felt drawn to the compelling mission of providing essential job training for women in order to break the vicious cycle of poverty.
“I experience a great feeling helping people help themselves,” Amanda said. “I realize a job search can be a scary experience—especially when someone may possess minimal skills.
Amanda appreciates having the opportunity to hear success stories and working directly with women receiving services . At a volunteer event, she recently assisted a previously incarcerated woman who eagerly wanted to make better choices and start a new path in life. “A little effort on my part helped her on a new path. We talked through essential interview skills and how to relate to potential employers.”
Amanda also enjoys the camaraderie of rallying around empowering local women. “We have a serious focus around a good cause but we still make sure to have a good time together.”
Amanda helped plan the successful 2014 Flight of Fashion event and serves on a Women United Committee. Amanda encourages other professionals to join a committee, “You get an amazing feeling when you help women help themselves.”
