Scottie Carter

Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

What working in this community means to me: “Working in the Greater Twin Cities community means so much to me, particularly during this time of transformation. With the national spotlight on us, we have an amazing opportunity to build and heal our own community while leading by example in the diversity, equity and inclusion space for all communities to see.”

Scottie oversees diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts for Greater Twin Cities United Way. His team will work with the Board of Directors, executive leadership team, staff and external partners to further the DEI goals of the organization. Scottie will also serve as a thought leader in the region when it comes to fostering a more diverse and equitable space in the workplace.

Prior to joining the organization, Scottie worked at Bloomberg Industry Group in various capacities. He earned his bachelor’s in political science from Hampton University and his Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law. He has also earned certificates for Alternative Dispute Resolution and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace.

Although originally from Chicago, Scottie and his family moved to Woodbury, Minn. in 2019. When he is not working, Scottie enjoys music, documentaries, video games, movies, traveling and hanging out with his friends and family. He is a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
