Senior Manager, Major Gifts
Inspiration: “It is not necessary for you to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.” — Rabbi Tarphon
What working in this community means to me: “It is an honor to serve my neighbors in my hometown—both those hoping to make a difference in this world and those who most need something to change.”
Matt serves as a bridge between donors wanting to make a difference and the highest-impact work happening in this community. He intertwines passion with purpose to bring about a transformation in the lives of our neighbors experiencing poverty.
Prior to joining the individual giving team at United Way, Matt worked in development at the American Red Cross and served in the U.S. Navy in various roles as a public affairs officer and special operations officer. He continues to serve as a public affairs officer in the Navy Reserve. Matt is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Naval War College, and the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
Matt lives in New Brighton with his wife and three daughters. Outside of work he is active in a variety of volunteer roles and enjoys traveling, eating delicious food, campfires, cookouts, encountering and living great stories, and dance parties in the kitchen.
