Lovel Trahan Senior Learning & Impact Strategy Officer
Inspiration: “All that you touch, you change. All that you change, changes you. The only lasting truth is change.” – Octavia Butler
What working in this community means to me: “All my success in life is directly attributable to the work of past, and current, community leaders to create environments where everyone can thrive. Doing this work means linking hands with these leaders and continuing to push for the changes they fought for so that later generations can expand the possibilities of the human condition.”
Lovel leads a team of talented analysts to operationalize key learnings of United Way’s programmatic activities and community initiatives to inform our long-term strategy and create the change we hope to see in our communities.
Before joining the team at United Way, Lovel was the founder of Hearth Analytics, an evaluation consulting firm focused on equitable research design, where he was the senior healthcare consultant. He brings an extensive background in social determinants of health research from his previous positions with The Center for Prevention at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, Rainbow Health Initiative, and Allina Health. He received two master’s degrees – one in public health from the University of Minnesota and one in public policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
Outside of work, Lovel loves curling up with an Afrofuturist novel, practicing his sketching skills, and hiking the many trails of Minnesota’s state parks with his partner Michael.
