Inspiration: “What we know matters but who we are matters more.” — Brene Brown
What working in this community means to me: “For me, community is about connection: Listening, learning, motivating and supporting each other to create an environment where everyone can thrive. I feel privileged to be able to do that through my role at United Way.”
Jenessa joined United Way in March 2018. As a business relationship officer, she builds and strengthens connections with key corporate partners, helping collaborate and create solutions that drive transformational community impact.
Prior to joining the organization, Jenessa led corporate social responsibility initiatives across UnitedHealth Group that supported more than 200,000 employees in giving back to the communities where they live and work, managed employee engagement and foundation programs at U.S. Bank, and worked in nonprofit development and communications. Jenessa is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College where she studied English and business management.
Jenessa is active in the Twin Cities recovery community, sits on The Retreat’s Women in Recovery board, and is the former president of the Corporate Volunteerism Council – Twin Cities. In her spare time, Jenessa enjoys nature, theater, and a good cup of coffee.
