“The time is always right to do what is right.”
This inspiring quote by Dr. King was the theme of yesterday’s Martin Luther King Day Breakfast held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Twenty United Way staff, board and committee members were in attendance among 1,900 community members from various sectors. This MLK gathering is one of the biggest in the country.
The keynote address was given by Myrlie Evers-Williams, a journalist and an iconic civil rights activist. Mrs. Evers-Williams gave an inspiring speech about youth activism, unity, and love in the spirit of freedom fighters like Dr. King and her late husband Medgar Evers.
