Sold Out Action Day Hits a Homerun for our Hometown

On August 17, United Way teamed up with the St. Paul Saints to bring thousands of volunteers together at CHS Field to stuff 12,000 backpacks full of school supplies so our community partners can send kids back to school ready to rock. Thanks to everyone who attended—you sold out the event, making this the largest Action Day yet!

In addition to the volunteer projects, participants enjoyed kid-friendly activities and games, mascot appearances and ballpark eats. Some lucky attendees walked away with great prizes generously donated by local companies and sports teams. Even our youngest volunteers got into the game and made bookmarks for returning students at the Crayola Experience.

There are still lots of ways to get involved to help local kids in need:

  • Make a Donation: Your $28 gift helps buy a backpack for a local student in need.
  • Volunteer Again: Volunteer United has hundreds of volunteer opportunities available in the Twin Cities region.
  • Learn More: United Way’s education programs are helping hometown kids reach their full potential.

Special thanks to our sponsors for making Action Day possible: CHS, Ecolab, and UnitedHealth Group. The event was co-hosted by the St. Paul Saints and Greater Twin Cities United Way.

Backpacks made at Action Day were distributed to 24 United Way partners.
